Finding extra storage

While planning our house, we had studied the floor plans and searched for places that would be possible storage. One "dead space" didn't seem useful until the house was framed.

When I discovered this narrow triangular shape between the walls of a hallway, family room and half-bath, I stared at it long enough to realize it would be a perfect location for a bank of shelving. If we had opened it up to the hallway, it could have been a bookcase.

The family room already had shelving and it would have been out of place in that room. We chose to open the shelves to the half-bath because this bath is located by the back door that leads to a pool. This will make a great place to store beach towels for the pool, adding colors to a small space.
