Discover Savannah

In the 1950s many of Savannah's historic homes were demolished to make way for "progress." Seven local women demanded this destruction stop before losing the 1820 Davenport house, forming the Historic Savannah Foundation and stopping the demolition only a short 24 hours before it was scheduled to begin.
